21-year-old University of Alabama student, Jessica Procter, captured the crown of Miss Alabama 2017. The pageant finale was held at the Samford University’s Wright Center in Birmingham.
Procter, from Tuscaloosa, will represent the Heart of Dixe at the 2018 Miss America Pageant this September in Atlantic City.
Aside from the crown, Procter also won the Catherine Crosby Long Award for Community Service for her personal platform, “Step Up To The Plate,” a partnership with the West Alabama Food Bank to raise awareness and funds to fight hunger and food insecurity.
The rest of the top five include Callie Walker, Miss University of Alabama, was named first runner-up. Chassidy Sumler, Miss Shelby County, was named second runner-up. Karson Fair, Miss Auburn Opelika Area, was named third runner-up. Brooklyn Holt, Miss Auburn University was fourth runner-up.
