Jillian Zucco was crowned Miss Massachusetts 2017 in the 78th Annual Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant on Saturday. Zucco is a native of Mattapoisett.
Zucco competed against 21 other women from across Massachusetts for the Miss Massachusetts title. The pageant was held for two days in Worcester. She won a $12,000 scholarship, as well as the right to represent the Bay State at the 2018 Miss America Pageant, which will be held on September 10 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Zucco also won a preliminary award in the Talent (Group A) division. Additionally, she was named the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals “Miracle Maker” during the competition.
The award is given to the contestant who has raised the most money for the Children’s Miracle Network, which is the official Miss Massachusetts platform. Zucco has raised $25,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. She won “Miracle Maker” for the second consecutive time, having won the same award at the 2016 competition.
Zucco campaigned on the platform “Choose a Cause, Make a Difference,” in which she advocates for the importance of volunteering to make a difference.
