Miss Namibia 2017 is Sune January

Sune January was crowned Miss Namibia 2017 during the pageant held Saturday night at the Windhoek County Club.

She earned the right to represent Namibia at the 2017 Miss World and 2017 Miss Universe Pageants later this year.

First Runner Up was Romilly Mouton and Second Runner Up was Tessia Wutmawezi.

There were a total of 12 contestants this year.  As the winner of Miss Namibia, she will be working with various charities, focusing on the less privileged and serve as a goodwill ambassador of Namibia.

The pageant started in 1981 and have successfully produced a Miss Universe in 1992.  Michelle McLean made history to be the first Namibian to win the most prestigious title in the world.  In 1995, McLean helped bring the Miss Universe Pageant to the capital city of Windhoek were Chelsi Smith of the United States was crowned the winner.  Mclean went on to become a successful actress, writer & model.

The pageant was broadcasted and streamed live via NBC, Namibian Broadcasting Corp.
